The area surrounding Ragged Mountain is quiet and scenic. If you have some free time, grab breakfast in New London, visit one of the nearby lakes, enjoy a local brewery, or spend some time outdoors.

**WALK, BIKE OR HIKE**

There are plenty of trails within a relatively short drive, with options ranging from leisurely walks and bike rides to challenging mountain hikes. The Northern Rail Trail runs through Danbury and is a great choice for an easy walk or bike ride. Profile Falls in Bristol offers a short walk to a scenic waterfall.

For those looking to hike, Mount Kearsarge has a popular loop of approximately three miles with panoramic views from the summit. Ragged Mountain and the surrounding area also offer several hiking trails for those interested in a longer outing.

**EXPLORE THE WHITE MOUNTAINS**

Franconia Notch and the White Mountains are a little over an hour away and make a great half-day or full-day trip. Visitors can enjoy a scenic drive, walk or bike a portion of the Franconia Notch Recreational Path, or choose from numerous hikes throughout the area.

For experienced hikers looking for a full-day adventure, Mount Lafayette and the Franconia Ridge Loop is one of our favorite hikes in the White Mountains. The approximately nine-mile hike is difficult, but the ridgeline and surrounding mountain views are absolutely incredible!

Since this is a full day excursion, we recommend this to those who will be in area on Friday or Sunday and looking for something to do!

**GOLF**

Owl’s Nest Resort is approximately an hour away. Its outdoor golf course may still be open, depending on the weather and its indoor golf simulators are available year-round. We recommend checking availability and reserving in advance.

**EXPLORE THE LAKES**

Lake Sunapee and Lake Winnipesaukee are both within driving distance if you’d like to see some of New Hampshire’s beautiful lakes! Visit Sunapee Harbor for a peaceful waterfront stop, or head to Meredith, approximately 40 minutes away.

**LOCAL BREWERIES**

A few breweries in the area include Hoptimystic Brewing in Sunapee, the Flying Goose Brew Pub in New London, and Shackett’s Brewing Company in Bristol. Please check current hours before visiting.
